From Mon 19 July, Royal & Derngate will be operating at a fuller capacity for the first time since March last year.

Our absolute priority is to ensure that everything remains as Covid-safe and welcoming as possible for our audiences, staff and artists.  Whilst Government restrictions have now been relaxed, meaning we can allow more people into our auditoriums, we still have many measures in place.

All auditorium and front of house spaces are subject to rigorous cleaning and sanitising between performances.

Touch free hand sanitising points are available around the building and we’d encourage you to use these as you enter.

face-maskThe wearing of face coverings is strongly recommended, especially while moving around inside the venue. Not only is this a courtesy to your fellow audience members but in doing so, you continue to prioritise the safety of our essential front line staff. They will all continue to wear face coverings.

food-drinkWe are now a cash-free venue, in order to reduce contact at our bars and Box Office. We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You can also pay with National Theatre Tokens or Royal & Derngate gift vouchers.

ticketsWe are using e-tickets which can be checked hands free. If your tickets were carried over from an earlier re-scheduled date you will receive a new updated set to the email address on your account no later than 48 hours before the show. You can either print these off or present them for scanning on your phone.

coatWe are encouraging patrons to bring as few personal belongings as possible. Do make sure you have something warm to wear – our increased ventilation and airflow means it may feel a few degrees cooler than normal.

wheelchairIf you have any access requirements, please alert us when you arrive so we are able to help accommodate you appropriately and help avoid any unnecessary queuing.

do-not-attend-2In line with our ‘Book with Confidence, Exchange with Ease’ pledge, adopted in conjunction with UK Theatre, if you cannot attend a performance due to Covid, our Box Office team will be happy to exchange your tickets to another performance or issue a credit note up to 24 hours prior to the show.

With our Covid-safe measures changing, we ask you to continue to be mindful of others attending the theatre. Looking to the weeks ahead, Royal & Derngate will be continuing to offer some socially distanced performances and areas of the theatre. These will be made available where possible and in discussion with visiting producers. Our Box Office team can be contacted on 01604 624811 or via email [email protected] if you have any questions regarding your booking.

These measures will be reviewed and updated in line with Government guidelines.
