Join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for a playful introduction to the amazing world of orchestral music! Featuring 25 musicians and internationally renowned presenter Tim Steiner performing a range of music in ways you’ve never imagined, this event is specially designed for people who may find traditional concerts challenging to attend, including adults and children with learning disabilities, movement disorders, autistic spectrum disorder, other neurological conditions, or those with young children or babies.
Including interactive elements, close-up experiences of the musicians, BSL interpretation, Makaton singalong, and gentle sensory elements, this performance is Relaxed, so attendees are welcome to enjoy the concert without worry. There will be opportunities to sing, dance, move about or just listen to the world-class music as preferred, and ‘chill out’ spaces will be available for anyone needing some quiet time before re-entering the auditorium. At the end of the concert, optional post-show activities will invite you to try your hand at a range of musical activities, led by the RPO musicians themselves.

Sensory Tour – 1.15pm
A free 20 minute Sensory Tour will take place prior to the concert at 1.15pm. The tour will be led by two RPO musicians, a BSL interpreter and presenter, and will allow audiences with vision or hearing impairments to familiarise themselves with the instruments of the orchestra through touching, hearing and having the sounds described to them as relevant.
Please note that the tour has a limited capacity and is only available for people with sensory impairments to help them get the most out of the concert. All audience members will get a chance to touch/try out instruments and work closely with the musicians in the post-show activities.
Places can be booked when you book your tickets online or by phoning Box Office on 01604 624811.
