We stand in solidarity with all those who are against injustice and hate. We denounce racism in all its forms.
We commit to developing our leadership, our workforce and our board to better represent our many diverse communities. We will ensure our commitment to equality and fair representation is evident to all those who we work with and welcome to Royal & Derngate.
While we are proud that more than 40% of the actors and creatives we have championed within the past year are from BAME backgrounds, we recognise that we haven’t yet done nearly enough, either on or off stage. We need to do better and to do so faster.
We will work collectively with other arts and culture leaders and community groups across our region to enact meaningful change for the county, supporting and challenging our local authorities to deliver their own commitments. We will also strive to use our influence to have impact in areas beyond our local geography, and seek to learn while we do.
We welcome critical feedback on our language and actions to help us be better allies and to continue our role in combating racism.
We will hold ourselves to account.
