Our very own Pippi Longstocking takes on Northampton Saints

Pippi Longstocking, the title character from our Christmas show of the same name, made a visit to Franklin’s Gardens to take on players at the famous Northampton Saints Rugby Club.

The well-loved character from Astrid Lindgren’s books, celebrated as the ‘strongest girl in the world’, was kitted up in Black, Green and Gold, and went head to head with some of the team on the hallowed Franklin’s Gardens pitch.

With Saints becoming members of Royal & Derngate’s Business Club, Northampton Saints and Royal & Derngate are very much looking forward to working more closely together, to the benefit of their supporters and audiences.

Chief Executive of Royal & Derngate, Jo Gordon commented: “Many of our audience members are big supporters of Saints and likewise many rugby fans are keen theatre-goers, so it makes every sense for our two organisations to find ways to work together in the future, and we’re thrilled to have their support as new Business Club members.”

Marketing and Communications Director at Northampton Saints, Tim Percival, added: “Just like Franklin’s Garden, Royal & Derngate is a really significant pillar of the Northampton community, so we’re delighted to be exploring some new ways to work together – starting with welcoming Pippi to the team!”
