Outstanding Regional Theatre and The Stage 100

We’re delighted to have been named as “Outstanding Regional Theatre” of the year by Michael Billington. Writing in the latest edition of Country Life the author and arts critic stated “Royal & Derngate…under the direction of James Dacre, has been consistently enterprising”.

We were thrilled to see Jo Gordon & James Dacre included in The Stage 100the entertainment publication’s list of the 100 most influential people working in the theatre and performing arts industry.

Listed at number 59, the entry praised Ghosts, Two Trains Running and The Season and our Made In Northampton 2019 season:

“The Royal & Derngate’s commitment to making more home-grown work has yielded positive results, with a mix of familiar names and new talent, mostly in co-productions. While Barney Norris’ adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel The Remains of the Day was a let-down, there was a standout production of Ghosts in an Ibsen-heavy year, the excellent August Wilson revival Two Trains Running, and a real buzz around new musical The Season by newcomers Jim Barne and Kit Buchan”.
