Local musicians wanted for Bugsy Malone

We are looking to engage a local community band for July 2018, to play in our Youth Theatre production of Bugsy Malone.

Our Youth Theatre and Young Company are currently rehearsing for what will be a very fun and professional production of the popular musical Bugsy Malone, which will run from Sat 7 to Sun 15 July in the Royal auditorium. We are hoping to engage a nine-piece band to work with the company of 60 highly talented young people, professional Musical Director James Clements, Director Ashley Elbourne and our theatre production staff for the show’s eleven performances.

Following the success of Oliver! in 2016, where we engaged a local eleven-piece orchestra to great success, we are looking to build on that same motivation in creating this new band. We are looking for local musicians to play the following parts (all required to be the standard of grade 7+): clarinet I/flute, clarinet II/alto sax, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, bass guitar and piano.

Rehearsal commitments would include Sat 7 April and the evenings of Tue 3 to Fri 6 July. To find out more about the commitments and benefits of taking part, please email Ashley Elbourne at [email protected]. To register your interest, send a short covering letter with details of experience and instruments played.

Delving into the jazz age to explore the thrilling, dark and dangerous 1920’s prohibition era, the fun-filled musical Bugsy Malone is packed with well-known songs and features Northampton’s brightest up-and-coming young talent
