All donations raised in August will go towards essential maintenance of our Derngate stage

When our Derngate auditorium was built 31 years ago, it was the first of its kind in the UK, using the most up to date technology to make the space flexible enough to transform into different formats – whether a 1,200 seat concert hall, a 1,000 seat lyric theatre for musicals, drama and stand-up comedy, or a 1,600 capacity flat floor arena for rock and pop events.

The linoleum stage floor and supporting structures, which are essential to the transformation process, now needs fully replacing so that we can continue to bring you a wide of drama, music, comedy, dance and family entertainment.

As a charity, we rely on support from donations to carry out our work. This August, all of the money we raise will go towards this essential maintenance of our Derngate stage – the hardest working part of the auditorium. As in every year, August is a crucial time for all maintenance work in both the Royal and Derngate auditoria as it is the one time of year when we have no performances.

This is the perfect time for this work to be completed so that we can keep the stars treading our boards, and we can continue to keep present the broad range of performances we know you love.
