Royal & Derngate is pleased to have received a very positive outcome today, with its level of funding from Arts Council England increased for 2018-2022. This equates to £846,666 per year for the four year agreement, and would take effect from April 2018.

Their funding support enables us to continue to produce quality theatre, and present films, entertainment and participation opportunities, for everyone in Northamptonshire. It is a great endorsement of the hard work and dedication of our colleagues, volunteers and trustees.”
Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England said: “Royal & Derngate plays a vital part in the local creative economy, producing great theatre that entertains and inspires us, and we’re delighted to be increasing our investment in their work. It’ll be great to see them support leading and emerging ensemble companies alongside their own ambitious productions, over the next four years.”
The past year has been a busy time for Royal & Derngate with audience members and participants numbering more than 474,000 in Northampton and beyond. Participation in creative learning activities has increased by 5,000 in one year, with attendances rising to 26,317. The theatre’s local economic impact has also grown, now totalling £26.6 million.
