Royal & Derngate hosts a number of annual festivals that create imaginative and fun ways for all ages to take part in arts activities.

Fun Palaces 2016

Everyone’s an artist, everyone’s a scientist.

Fun Palaces is an annual weekend of arts and science events created by, for and with local people.

Our most recent event took place on Sat 1 & Sun 2 October 2016. We had many fun, free, family-focused and adult activities for all ages to get involved in, such a robot workshops, puppetry workshops, performances by Querencia Theatre, storytelling and much more.

National Theatre Connections

Connections is the National Theatre’s nationwide youth theatre festival. Each year it offers a unique opportunity for youth theatres and school theatre groups to stage new plays written for young people by some of theatre’s most exciting playwrights.

Each year Royal & Derngate hosts one of the regional festivals, with over 500 young people involved in over four days of fantastic workshops, creative activities and performances.
