Wedding Ceremonies & Civil Partnerships

Royal & Derngate’s inspiring, creative surroundings are now available for fabulously romantic wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships. With an expert team who are passionate about delivering events of the highest quality, you can be sure your day will be a truly unforgettable experience.

We have four spaces licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships including the glorious Royal auditorium with a capacity of up to 450, and our versatile Derngate auditorium with a capacity of 1150. The Derngate auditorium is easily transformed into a space suitable for ceremonies and wedding receptions alike. We also have a wide range of contemporary hospitality areas available within the venue.

Making a Grand Entrance

You and your guests will arrive via the Royal Theatre entrance on Guildhall Road and you will receive the red carpet treatment from that moment on. If you wish we can serve drinks to your guests in our elegant Crown Room before you take your seats for the ceremony.

Our Theatrical Backdrop

You will enjoy the thrill of celebrating with your loved ones in one of our four settings. If this is the Royal or Derngate auditorium, you can invite as much or as little guest participation on stage as you wish, as you take centre stage for your wedding vows.  In the Royal auditorium our beautifully ornate safety curtain is one of the many stage backdrops you can choose from, plus you can dress the stages with additional flowers and decorations if you choose. The theatre’s PA and Lighting system will help complete the setting as your choice of music and lights add atmosphere and ambience.

Clever Canapés, Creative Cocktails and Mouth-watering Menus

After your ceremony, we will invite you to raise a glass and celebrate with reception drinks in one of our contemporary dining areas. During this time, the ceremony space will remain available for your photographs.

We offer a comprehensive range of menus, lovingly developed and prepared on-site to offer fully seated and served wedding breakfasts for up to 100. Should you wish to have a themed wedding we can work with you to create a bespoke menu.

Alternatively, after your ceremony you may prefer that we host only your drinks reception – the choice is yours.

And After Dinner…

One of our fully-licensed bars of your choice will be open throughout your event, with music and dancing in your chosen space through to 12am. We will help you to source a DJ or live band or you are welcome to book your own. We have partnered with Sweet Events to offer a fully co-ordinated wedding service. From the time we take your booking until you leave us after your celebrations, we will be on hand to help your day run perfectly.
