Chair: Mr Steve Edmonds – Independent
Steve is a Northamptonian and Chartered Accountant. He joined the Board in January 2011 and was appointed Chair in November 2016. He is a member of the Finance Committee, which he has chaired since May 2011, and a member of the Cinema Committee. Steve has held operational and strategic board level positions with Grant Thornton in the UK and its international network. He was previously a trustee of the Royal Theatre and has been involved with a number of other local charities, including chairing the County’s British Olympic Appeal and Sports Aid foundation.
Miss Jane Bloomer – Independent
Jane was appointed to the Board in June 2015 and is a member of the Finance Committee. She is a practicing solicitor and director at the local law firm Howes Percival LLP, strategically managing teams in Northampton and Milton Keynes.
Jane has been an amateur dancer since the age of 13, and has a particular passion for promoting the arts. She has lived in Northampton since 2005, having started her legal career in Birmingham, and still regularly participates in ballroom, Latin and modern dance events.
Cllr Brandon Eldred – Local Authority Nominee (NBC)
Brandon was appointed to the Board on 19 September 2016, and is a member of the Finance Committee. He is a Northampton Borough Councillor for East Hunsbury Ward and currently holds the Cabinet role of Finance. Brandon has brought some big events to Northampton including Alive at Delapre, Women’s cycle Tour, Olympic Flame, set up the Cultural Forum, Walk in the Park to name a few.
Ms Frances Holloway
Francis joined the Board in May 2017 and is a member of the Finance Committee. She is a qualified accountant and has held a number of posts with NCC, Avon and currently Network Rail. Frances is familiar with financial reporting and systems, the workings of boards and chairing committees. She is also a proud Northamptonian and supporter of the Arts, particularly for young people.
Miss Bernie Lally
Bernie is a civil servant, anthropologist, and mother to two young daughters. She was appointed to the board in May 2017.
Bernie specialises in strategy, carbon reduction, technology, and innovation. Prior to joining the civil service she worked in the charity sector in a number of areas including environmental education, sustainable development and children’s charities.
Bernie spent her childhood in Northampton and returned in 2012, to bring up her children here, after having lived and worked overseas and around the UK. Bernie has a passion for the arts and wrote her Masters dissertation on Canadian circus company, Les 7 Doigts.
Mr Roger Martin – Independent
Roger joined the Board in March 2014. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing, and Managing Director of Star Digital an award winning Northampton based digital marketing agency.
Roger has lived in Northampton since 2002 with his wife Andrea and their three children, and has a keen interest in supporting and promoting music and theatre. He is a member of the Marketing sub-committee, and Development Committee.
Mrs Victoria Miles – Independent
Victoria was appointed to the Board on 20 May 2009. Victoria is the Chief Executive of the Northamptonshire Community Foundation (Northamptonshire’s independent grant giving organisation).
Victoria has a passion for theatre; she originally trained as an actress and singer before embarking on an earlier career with the Regional Press, and still directs and performs with various small independent performance groups such as Roundabout Theatre Company and Company MK. Victoria is a member of the Development Committee
Miss Hannah Miller – Independent
Hannah was appointed to the Board in June 2015. She is currently the Head of Casting at the Royal Shakespeare Company. She has also cast productions for Northampton Theatres, Hampstead Theatre, the Young Vic, Cardboard Citizens, Treatment Theatre and Sheffield Theatres.
Hannah also works regularly in drama schools and with other industry organisations advising actors on professional development. She has previously been a school governor in Northamptonshire, and been elected to the committee of the Casting Directors Guild.
Mrs Kay Roberts
Kay is a Northamptonian and taught in primary schools across Northampton for 38 years until her retirement in December 2016. She has been Headteacher of two primary schools for 22 years and is passionate about ensuring that there is an enrichment offer in the arts within the school curriculum for all pupils. Kay was appointed as a Trustee in May 2017. She loves theatre and all forms of the arts, and is an active member of the Sporting Bears Charity.
Miss Clare Slater
Clare was appointed to the Board in May 2017. She is the Literary Manager at the Donmar Warehouse in London. Clare also works as a freelance adaptor and dramaturg. She previously worked as Executive Director of the Gate Theatre in Notting Hill. Prior to that, Clare was the Assistant Literary Manager at the National Theatre, and worked in TV and film development with Rare Day.
Cllr Heather Smith – Local Authority Nominee (NCC)
Heather joined the Board in January 2014. She has been a County Councillor since May 2007, was elected Deputy Leader of Northamptonshire County Council in May 2013, and is responsible for leading key strategic projects including the Heritage Gateway project and Project Angel, aimed at transforming Northampton Town Centre.
Heather has a strong interest in the history and heritage of the county and is a keen theatre-goer.
Cllr Danielle Stone
Danielle was appointed to the Board in September 2015. She is the County Councillor for Abington and Phippsville and the shadow portfolio for learning, skills and education, and is Borough Councillor for Castle Ward and the leader of the Labour Group of Councillors on Northampton Borough Council.
Danielle has worked in education all her life, firstly as a teacher and then as an education officer. She is passionate about arts education and wants to see all young people given opportunities to go to the theatre and to take part in productions.
Mr Charlie Wood – Independent
Charlie was elected to the Board in June 2015. He co-founded and runs Underbelly – a UK-based live entertainment company.
Established in 2000 to operate one small venue at the Edinburgh Fringe, Underbelly has grown to include the Udderbelly and London Wonderground festivals at London’s Southbank Centre, Comedy Hullabaloo in Stratford-Upon-Avon with the RSC, and an ever-growing programme at the Edinburgh Fringe. They are the producers of Edinburgh’s Christmas and Hogmanay events and the production partner of West End Live and Pride in London, and they also produce shows for UK and international touring.
